The rich Indian culture has attracted millions of foreigners for decades now. The ancient Indian exercise form of yoga, the art of sex Kamasutra and the Indian medicine science of Ayurveda is celebrated globally today. The homemade remedies that are common in a majority of kitchens in India shows how robust they are in helping with a range of issues from acne, pigmentation, hair, nails, weight loss to stomach aches, cough and cold.
In this blog as well, we are taking hints from basic Indian elixirs to help us with some common everyday issues.
Facial Hair Removal
Facial hair is a real problem when you are a woman. You can either pluck them with a plucker or get rid of them with threading or wax (read pain with every method). You can use a razor which might make your skin rough. On the other hand, you can add gram flour and water, apply that paste on the target areas, let it dry, and then rub it off. Repeat this process twice a week for a few months for permanent results.
Tried every other hair oil, hair mask, and shampoo at the drugstore but the stubborn dandruff is still your best friend? Worry not, squeeze 10-12 lemon drops in olive or coconut oil and massage it well in your scalp. Let it stay there for 1-2 hours and wash your dandruff off. No longer worry about your dandruff spoiling your special nights by staining your black lingerie for women combo.
Bye Bye Tan
In the west, there are tanning sprays and parlours, but in India, the sun is too hot to handle and the tanning too difficult to get rid of. Add one teaspoon of honey to juice squeezed out from one lemon, and apply it to your face. Let it rest there for 10-15 minutes and then rinse with lukewarm water. Honey is a great moisturizer while the bleaching properties of lemon work on the tanning.
Another way to get rid of facial tanning is by using potato liquid. Slice a potato in two parts, scrape the part with a fork until the liquid comes on the surface. Now rub this piece on your face. Rine it after a minute or two.
Take a pack of natural henna powder, mix it well, and apply it carefully to your locks for a subtle burgundy shade. Your hair length decides the amount of henna you need.
Avoid Hair Thinning
Indian mothers always advise their daughters to keep changing their hair parting sides so the parting does not become wider due to spot hair loss.
The Magical Kalpaviruksha
The coconut tree is referred to as kalpaviruksha in the Vedas as the tree is packed with goodness.
Drink coconut water to stay away from heat stroke in extreme weather.
Coconut milk is a skin moisturizer as it's extremely hydrating.
Coconut milk mixed with your makeup remover not only takes off the makeup but intensely hydrates your skin.
Coconut milk can be used as a hair mask owing to its deep conditioning properties.
Coconut oil can be used to hydrate extremely dry skin and can also be applied on chapped lips.
Finally, a gentle reminder – The number of corona cases is falling, yet we still have to use masks and disposal transparent plastic gloves in India until we completely get rid of the pandemic.
